Sparkling wine - Dereszla Winery

Located at the heart of the Tokaj wine region, in Bodrogkeresztúr, Dereszla Winery has been producing sparkling wines since 2010, exclusively using the traditional method. Thanks to their growing popularity, their sparkling wines now make up a significant part of their range, complementing Tokaj’s renowned dry and sweet wines both domestically and in export markets. The complex minerality of the furmint – harvested earlier than usual from the northeastern, less sun-exposed plots – and the rich spice of the hárslevelű together provide a base wine with an excellent acid backbone for the production of sparkling wines, while the cool cellars of Tokaj create optimal conditions for a minimum of two years’ ageing in bottle.

Category-winner wine: Tokaj Vintage Brut 2020

Produced using the méthode traditionnelle, this sparkling wine brings together the character of the Tokaj terroir and the expertise of Dereszla Winery. Made from the region’s two classic grape varieties, furmint and hárslevelű, it was aged on the lees in bottle for 24 months after fermentation. The result is a sparkling wine with elegant acidity, pleasant spiciness, mineral depth and subtle autolytic notes. Recommended as an aperitif, served at 6°C.
