Bikavér - Németh János Winery

The winery processes the grapes from about 10 hectares of land at each harvest and fills close to fifty thousand bottles with rosé, siller, white and red wines. Although they are continuously expanding their technologies they intend to remain a traditional winery where the winemaker lives close at hand, knows where the sun rises and sets on his vineyards, and envisions the wines which then come to life under his own hands, exclusively by spontaneous fermentation. Their vineyards have been located on the outstanding slopes of the Szekszárd wine region for four generations and – in addition to the tank and/or barrel fermentation – this ensures the diversity of the wines. Their motto: “Simply, from the vineyard.”

Category-winner wine: Könnyű Szél Bikavér 2019

The wine is based on three grapes of the Carpathian Basin: kékfrankos, kadarka and zweigelt, covered with cabernet franc as a world species. The grapes are harvested from Iván Valley, Decsi Hill and Gyűszű Valley. This item is an upmarket product of the winery. It is an elegant, fruity and – thanks to the kadarka – pleasantly spicy, easily drinkable cuvée with an alcohol content of 13.5%. Only 2,500 bottles have been produced.
