Cabernet franc - Riczu Tamás Winery

The winery is located in the middle of the Villány wine region, in Siklós, where it practices eco-friendly and chemical-free viticulture on seven hectares. The wines are made exclusively from natural, vegan components at an annual volume of 40-50 thousand bottles, all branded as classicus, premium and super premium with Villány as the protected designation of origin. The wines are complex, generous in taste, aromas, and flavours, rich, beautiful and memorable. They are characterised by a particularly fine velvety texture and a unique taste. Tamás Riczu owes his success in national and international competitions to his respect for traditions and nature, his use of modern technology, and humble approach towards his profession.

Category-winner wine: Villányi Franc 2018

The wine is produced with a strict crop limitation, from grapes harvested and selected by hand, and 23 months of ageing in oak barrels. Thanks to the healthy, ripe grapes of the cabernet franc, the wine has a deep ruby colour, an intense aroma and an artistic delicacy. In addition to ripe fruits such as blackberries, blueberries, wild strawberries, the astringency of plum jam prevails, but there is also a spiciness from the barrel, mingled with aromas of vanilla, chocolate and coffee. This long-finished, full-bodied, serious, balanced and elegant wine carries the typical traits of the variety and is characterised by a complex, big, extracted, rounded tannin structure.
